I swear I don’t intend for this blog to be a grammar freak’s. Actually I might have to add that to the About page! I tried logging in a couple of days ago using one password for two devices (I don’t know why Caribou has a security system since their wi-fi is free). That didn’t work out obviously. Apparently Caribou has invented a new word.
Logined: the combination of the words “logged” and “in”. A shorthand version to be used when you feel like it. If you’re criticized for using it, just reference Caribou’s wi-fi system. 😉
It is of common courtesy that you don’t clobber the bandwidth at the local coffee shop by downloading your crap. There are others with whom you’re sharing the connection. Thank you.
Well it did survive 24hrs though. Two days after I had bought the Blackberry 9900 it died on me! I’m not sure if my specific model had a defect or not, but right now the phone is in the hands of Axiom Telecom in an attempt to bring it back to life. Everything froze on the device (including touch screen and the qwerty). I couldn’t access anything! I was only able to receive phone calls. I really hope it’s a minor hiccup and they could bring it back to life or give me a replacement. I don’t want for this to be the Electrozan story all over again.
The Electrozan Story
Around a year ago I purchased the Blackberry Bold 9780 from Electrozan. They had the best price in the market, so I decided to snatch it from there. Not a week later I realized that I had a defected phone. The qwerty would add letters to whatever i’m writing, other buttons didn’t work and other buttons added extra “periods” every time i used them! I went back to Electrozan and told them that they had sold me a defected phone. They wouldn’t admit it. I proved to them at the store by letting the guy working there to try it and the phone acted up as it was when I was using it. He said that he can’t replace it or refund me because their warranty doesn’t cover it! What is the warranty for then?? He showed me on the back of the warranty something that read like this: “This warranty doesn’t cover Blackberries, Plasma Tvs, Panasonic electronics etc…” and the list kept going on. It seemed like a joke to me! I thought I was purchasing a phone from a respected company. They said that they would forward me to their Blackberry repairs service somewhere in “Dhajeej”. I trotted there after having some words with the store manager. I told him that this wasn’t very ethical of them and that this is a disgrace and violation of the customer’s rights. He didn’t budge or care. At “Dhajeej” the service center took my phone and said they will fix it. They fixed it. Three days later it went back to its defected phase and I’ve had the phone for a year now having to deal with it myself. Basically Electrozan told me: “we know you have a defected phone, we don’t care about you as a customer, we’re not going to swap the phone for you, take the defected phone and just live with it!”
The Butter: Stay away from Electrozan (from personal experience). Their warranty has a major glitch.
Update: I’ve got a new phone from Axiom Telecom. They acknowledged the fact that there was a defect and they replaced the phone. Replacement working fine so far.
After harassing Alghanim Electronic’s X-Cite hotline for the past several days, I’ve gotten tired and annoyed by the fact that I don’t have the Blackberry Bold 9900 in my hands right now. It all started when I got an optimistic reply from the first guy I talked to over the phone. He said that X-cite had run out of stock but that they should have the device in stock again within three days (that conversation took place exactly three days from now). I called again yesterday and I got a rather different reply: “We don’t know when we’re getting it. Maybe a week.” Very unhelpful especially when you throw in that maybe and we don’t know. I called in again today (yes, I be killin’ ’em XD) and a guy told me that they still don’t have it in their stores but that they’re expecting two shipments this week. How accurate are those claims? Nobody knows. I continue to vent my frustrations on the current BB 9780 I purchased from Electrozan a year ago (which was sold to me with a defective keyboard but wouldn’t admit it/exchange it for me – a story which I will definitely voice on this blog soon).
UPDATE: I just called The European Phone (“الهاتف الأوروبي”) and they said that they DO have the phone and are selling it for 250KD. So if you’re that person that would shell out 250KD when everyone else is selling it for less than 200KD, I dedicate the following video to you:
Around a week ago 6alabat got refreshed with an all new flash-pazazzed, menu littered design. And I loved it! I’m trying to get on right now though but apparently they’re having some problems. I’m trying to order some sweets for my friends coming over but now everything is ruwined! RUWINED!
